"A handy workbench with no tools, not sure how handy it really is then."
The Workbench is an essential workstation throughout the game. It is required to craft most of the blueprint items and even some of the default ones. It's cheap cost and broad use will find you adding one to every satellite base.
Items that require a Workbench will have an anvil and hammer icon next to them in the crafting menu.
You must stand near the Workbench to use it. An icon will popup above your health bar when close enough.
Tip: You will find workbench Tools in loot boxes. They can be placed into the special slots next to the workbench inventory. Having tools in place will increase the chances of crafting items with higher grades. However, tools do degrade with usage so make them count.
Crafting[]
A Workbench can be crafted with:
Utilizing Tools[]
Tools can be placed into the Workbench to increase the chances of crafting Higher Grade Items.
- Open your Workbench inventory by interacting with it
- Find the column to the right of it's inventory, labeled "Workbench Tools"
- Place tools into these slots (Multiples of the same tool type may be used)
- Items that you craft at the workbench will now take advantage of the tools
- Tools will degrade with use, replace or repair them as needed
- Save your tools by taking them out when crafting items you don't need in higher grades
- Tools themselves can have higher grades and provide additional bonuses

These Tools can be placed into the Workbench inventory. Crafting with them installed will increase the chance to create Higher Grade Items at the cost of lowering the tool durability. Tools themselves are available in higher grades which can increase their effectiveness.
Recycle Kits can be used to learn Tool Blueprints, allowing you to craft replacements or attempt to craft higher grade versions.
